Read what Angela Watson has to say about Educating America

Angela Watson, from The Cornerstone, featured Educating America in her website article Volunteers and Aides. Here is an excerpt of what she had to say:

One of the most remarkable things about this book is that its advice applies equally well to teachers, parents, volunteers, para-professionals, and other classroom assistants (the first part of the book contains more general strategies, with separate chapters written “mostly” for each type of classroom worker.) Educating America tackles tricky topics from setting expectations to monitoring student progress. The advice goes far beyond common sense stuff and provides genuinely useful tips that you can tell are effective in real classrooms.

EDMONDS, Washington -- August 30, 2011-- Paddy Eger invites educators, school volunteers and interested community members to the launch of her book. Educating America: 101 Strategies for Adult Assistants in K-8 Classrooms is written as a guide for adults working with students.

This celebration of volunteerism on Friday, Sept.16 runs from 4:30-7:00 at Maplewood K-8 School. The address: 8500 200th St SW in Edmonds. Attendees are invited meet the author, talk with educators and volunteers as well as purchase the book.  Light refreshments will be served.

Reduced funding, increased class size and testing are today's big issues in education. When volunteers step up and step into classrooms, they support teachers and students while off-setting the issues. The book provides numerous easy-to-use strategies to enhance volunteers time with students.
