Third-generation book sales wiz, Byron Parnell, joins Tendril Press as Director of Sales & Marketing.
Deeply immersed in the book world, and the relationships vital to sales and marketing success, Byron Parnell contributes 23 years of experience in publishing houses large and small.
A Track Record of Skyrocketing Sales
Growing up in Montana, Byron was immersed in a book sales group founded by his grandfather and run by his father. He headed to New York City for college, and worked as Simon & Schuster’s Western Sales Representative. Wanting something different, he discovered the joys of independent presses when became Director of Sales & Marketing for Falcon Publishing in 1994. When his successes led to a Globe-Pequot buyout, he did the same for Kane/Miller Publishers, which sold in 2008.
An In-House Treasure
As Sales & Marketing Director for Tendril Press, Byron will be recruiting and overseeing a team of local, national, and international sales reps who will be responsible for placing Tendril books in major bookstore chains, independent booksellers, airports, and specialty retailers like Michael’s, Babies ‘R Us, as well as gift stores.
Byron will be traveling to meet with distributors and account buyers twice a year, at the opening of the spring and fall seasons. He will be running booths at industry shows, including Book Expo America and the American Library Association, and will soon be traveling to Europe with CEO—Karin Hoffman, and Acquisitions Editor—Jennifer Holder, to buy and sell international rights.

Along with his extensive experience, the feedback he gathers from sales reps and account buyers is priceless when it comes to maximizing the sales of Tendril Press books.
